Summer Jam or Slam?

T.I. has released his first single from his upcoming album, Trouble Man, called "Love This Life!" I am in LOVE with this single... If  "You Can Have Whatever You Like" made you smile, you'll most likely break your teeth on this one. Listen for yourself...

"I gotta strong mind and a kind heart...with a soft kiss, but I love hard!" Ladies, can you imagine being the girl you KNOW he's talking about? Tiny is one lucky lady! What do you think?

No Pun Intended?

Here we go again... Vogue Italia is under scrutiny for the latest cover story, "Haute Mess." Models were photographed in dramatic, yet unsavory wardrobe, exaggerated make-up and colorful, outlandish hairstyles. Many believe that the spread pokes fun at the Black and Latino cultures. It doesn't stop there... Some models posed with or around junk food or fast food believed to be associated with the cultures.

Is that Louis V on her shadow???

I have two very different opinions about this shoot, but I'll let you be the judge...

Spotted: Beyonce'

Last night Beyonce' attended the 2012 Obama Fundraiser at New York's Greenwich Hotel, hosted by Michelle Obama. She wore a figure flattering navy blue Victoria Beckham dress.

She topped off her look with an edgy metal and pearl layered necklace adorned with an eagle pendant, blue accented Nicholas Kirkwood heels, and a blue manicure. Blue Ivy may not have made a physical appearance, but she definitely was reflected in Bey's ensemble.
Protective: Jay Z kept an eye on his wife as they left Nobu
I love the zipper detail on the back of the dress. This dress did NOT disappoint her curves! She looked ah-mazing!

On another note, Beyonce' has announced her post-baby performance!!! She will take the stage during Memorial Day weekend in Atlantic City, New Jersey!
Rumor has it that Jay-Z is working on a $150 million world (comeback) tour for her!!!!
Two words... I'M THERE! Who's with me?

Asian Persuasion

CONFESSION: I have an Asian obsession! There, I said it!
I admire some of the culture, arts, food, and traditions. I utilize several Asian elements in my decor because I feel a sense of tranquility, positivity, and purity.

I started collecting Asian inspired dishes during my college years. I have lots and lots of them, so I decided to share a few of my favorites with you! Bowls and coffee mugs are my absolute favorite, being that I LOVE cereal and warm drinks!!!

Here's a glimpse of my eclectic collection.

I was attracted to the dishes above because of the clean lines, textures (on some of the bowls), and colors.

I purchased this bowl this past weekend. I almost died when I saw it. It's so cute! I know you're probably thinking, "it's just a bowl with an animated panda bear eating leaves!"First of all, Pandas are  rare (I think). Their black and white manifestation represents "ying-yang." While this bowl reminds me of my childhood, the panda symbolizes balance, friendship, peace, and harmony. (That's a lot of meaning for a bowl, huh)?

Next are my beloved retro (not-so-Asian) owl bowls. It has somewhat of a 70s sparkle. I have contrasting hot pink coffee mugs with owls, of course that complement its charm...
And lastly, what is Asian persuasion without bamboo? I have bamboo almost as tall as me! (I'm 5'5, by the way). I have several stalks not only because they are low maintenance and it's plant I can keep alive, but because they come in a variety of styles making decorating fun, yet simple. While bamboo represents longevity in the Chinese culture, it represents friendship in India. Ultimately, I admire the clean lines and all the encouraging connotation associated with it. Look around... We all are collectors of something. What does your decor say about you??? Do tell!

Hope you have a peaceful and positive week!

Mint Green!

It's almost spring and it's time to for a change! I'm not looking forward to all the pollen in the air, but I AM ready for a season of nice warm weather, blooming flowers, birds chirping and... a new wardrobe selection!!! Spring represents a fresh start. Mint green is a pleasant way of starting the season. It's light and airy... It's fresh and clean... and let's face it, mint green pretty necessary for spring!

As I mentioned in the previous post, pastels are versatile. You can mix and match colors to be youthful and fun; or you can create a more classic look by pairing them with neutrals. Classic doesn't mean boring, so don't be afraid to add an unexpecting accent color!
If you're still flirting with the idea, choose a few key pieces to add to your wardrobe. Small doses are just as exciting. Mixing feminine and masculine also help create a nice balance, without stepping into the 'Easter Sunday' territory...

Yeezy couldn't resist being this fresh... Neither should you!

A Bright Future Ahead...

I'm super excited about what spring and summer holds!!! Have you seen all the rich, bright colors that await us? Ladies, you know what that means... It's time to BLOCK IT!!! There are so many bold colors to mix and match.

Yellow: Citrine is here to stay, but don't stop there! Find your favorite shade of yellow, and brighten up someone's day!

Berry: Vibrant shades fuchsia pink and purple are fun, feminine and eye catching.

Blue: If you're going to have the blues, it better be ELECTRIC!

Orange/Red: Tangerine is the 'IT' color of the season. Fiery reds also add a nice punch to any outfit.

Don't forget to add pastels to your wardrobe. Pastels are very soft, romantic, and innocent. (Reminds of cotton candy). They're neutral, classic, and versatile.

2012 Grammy Awards: Red Carpet

Did you get a chance to catch the 54th Annual Grammy Awards last night? I wasn't wowed by the show, but check out a few of my hits and misses from last night's red carpet...

Rihanna collaborated with Armani on this number... I absolutely loved this look on her! I enjoyed her performance. Nice dance moves...

Kelly looked adorable in Alberta Ferretti.

Adele also looked spectacular in Armani.

Glad Kelly Price was able to pull herself together, and attend the show.

This is debatable, but Fergie is my wild card favorite in Jean Paul Gaultier. Loved the color!

Remembering: Whitney Houston

This has been a very heavy weekend with the loss of Whitney Houston. Honestly, reality hasn't set in for me yet. I've kept my thoughts short to avoid emotions that I'm not ready to deal with. The tragedy is a huge impact on many! Whitney Houston sang the background music to many lives, including my own.

It was because of Whitney Houston, I THOUGHT I could sing... I can't! It was because of Whitney Houston we experienced The Greatest Love of All in one way or another... It's because of Whitney, I KNOW that I'm Every Woman! It's because of Whitney that we rocked out to Queen of the Night... It's because of Whitney, we checked out of the Heartbreak Hotel. It's because of Whitney, we are So Emotional. My prayers are with her family, friends, and fans. I Will Always Love You, Whitney...

Feel free to share your favorite Whitney Houston songs or moments!
UPDATE: An autopsy has been performed. However, the results aren't being released due to the active investigation.

R.I.P: Whitney Houston (1963-2012)

OK, things are getting really serious! Whitney Houston has passed away at the age 48. The official cause of death is unclear at this time. The legendary singer was getting ready for a Clive Davis pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California.

This is definitely a tragic loss to the music industry!
I will keep you updated as the story develops...

New Kid On the ROC: Blue Ivy Carter!!!!

Images of (my niece) Blue Ivy Carter have finally surfaced!!! She is so beautiful, I almost cried when I saw her! She looks JUST like her mommy!!! I know if I loved at her first sight, I can only image how Beyonce' and Jay feel. This little girl is so precious, I'm at a loss for words. So enjoy!

I can already tell she is going to have her daddy wrapped around her little finger... Right beside her diamonds!
The couple has also filed an application with the U.S Patent and Trademark Office to trademark Blue Ivy's name. Something tells me she is about to be a designer before she's a year old. Guess we'll have to wait and see....

On The Scene: Beyonce' !!!

For the second night in a row, Beyonce' attended Jay-Z's benefit concert (for United Way and his Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation) at Carnegie Hall. Last night, she stepped out in a sexy, black sequins Monique Lhuillier dress, Gucci shoes, Chanel clutch, and Loraine Schwartz accessories. (Maybe that's why celebrity stylist, June Ambrose was spotted at the Carter's residence a few days ago...)

Spotted: Beyonce'

'Every now and then you got go in the back of that closet and pull out that freakum dress....' Even if you just had a baby a month ago!!! (Ok, maybe it's not a freakum dress).
Beyonce' made her first appearance last night, since given birth a month ago. She wore a spectacular form-fitting red Alice Temperly dress, embellished Christian Louboutin shoes, and a gold Alexander McQueen clutch. She topped off  her look with an electric blue manicure and cocktail ring. She was spotted at Carnegie Hall in New York supporting husband, Jay-Z at a benefit concert.
